16/02/2012

Four leading diamantaires have recently been appointed honorary consul generals by the government of India.

Rosy Blue Chairman Harshad Mehta, Shrenuj Group Executive Director Vishal Doshi, Shrenuj Chairman and Managing Director Shreyas Doshi and KARP Impex Chairman Kishore Virani have been appointed consul general to Armenia, Botswana, Finland and Lesotho, respectively.

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Bharat Diamond Bourse, Mumbai Diamond Merchants Association and the Diamond Exporters Association Ltd recently paid tribute to the four individuals following their appointments.

India’s gemstone and jewellery industry is delighted with these outstanding individuals’ exemplary achievements, said GJEPC Chairman Rajiv Jain.

"I would like to believe that it is also a recognition of and a great credit to our industry, which has taken rapid strides these past few decades to emerge as the leading diamond centre in the world, a strong jewellery manufacturing centre and exporter, a [leading] manufacturer and exporter of coloured gemstones, and finally, one of the most promising and fast-developing markets for the gems and jewellery industry," Jain said.
