Gem expert joins auction house as VP

Canadian auction house Dupuis Fine Jewellery Auctioneers Inc has announced the appointment of Duncan Parker, FGA, FCGmA, CAP (CJA) as vice president, jewellery specialist. Parker’s responsibilities will include consulting with consignors and assisting prospective buyers. He brings with him 32 years of industry experience.

His depth of knowledge gained from a wealth of experience in grading diamonds and coloured stones will strengthen Dupuis' expertise while continuing to foster the trusted relationship between our firm and our clients. I have also known Duncan for over 20 years as an avid cyclist, gardener and world traveller and I have tremendous confidence in both his professional and personal integrity," said Ron Dupuis, company president.

Previously director of research at Harold Weinstein Ltd, a leading and respected jewellery appraisal company, Parker has advised innumerable clients on the disposition of personal jewellery. Parker is a columnist and contributor for industry magazines and journals. He has been an instructor of the gemstone course at Ryerson University, the Gemmology courses of George Brown College and Canadian Gemmological Association as well as instructor Master Valuer Program with the Canadian Jewellers Association. A renowned expert, he speaks regularly at international gem and jewellery conferences and symposiums. He has served as president of the Canadian Gemmological Association since 1995. Parker has been an industry spokesperson for gems and jewellery on radio and television including Discovery Channel and HGTV.

As a research gemmologist, jewellery appraiser, author, educator, and speaker, Duncan Parker is uniquely qualified to fulfill the role of Jewellery Specialist at Dupuis Fine Jewellery Auctioneers. His diverse skills and industry resources will serve as an added benefit to Dupuis' clientele, the company said.

Established in 1986, Dupuis is Canada's leading jewellery auction house with published sales results totalling $8.6 million in 2011.
