The highly coveted Paraiba tourmaline is among Groh + Ripp’s best-selling products, particularly during international trade shows. At the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, the gemstone expert dazzled buyers with stones in a wide range of colours, sizes and qualities, headlined by a clean 18.88-carat Paraiba tourmaline, which it described as having a “striking colour that brings to mind a relaxing swimming pool.” 

Other extremely sought-after stones at trade fairs are top-grade sapphires, tourmalines in all colours and rare emeralds, mostly from Colombia. 

Groh + Ripp said its gemstones come with gemmological certificates, which further strengthen buyers’ confidence.

According to the company, tourmalines are its fastest-moving products at the moment, thanks to their wide variety of colours. Business is also robust for sapphires, emeralds, peridots and aquamarines.

“Finer stones are difficult to find nowadays because of tight rough supply. There is an extremely high demand for such stones so these always move fast for us,” the gemstone trader remarked.

Founded more than 50 years ago, Groh + Ripp is known for its fine single gemstones, first-class fabrication capabilities and reliable service. The company said it can offer more than 120 different kinds of stones of medium to the finest qualities. 

These gemstone varieties include ruby, sapphire, emerald, alexandrite, red spinel, Imperial topaz, tanzanite, aquamarine, morganite, beryl, green tourmaline, Paraiba tourmaline, rubellite, tsavorite, peridot, coral, lapis lazuli, turquoise, moonstones and Burmese jadeite.

Asked about its performance during the first six months of 2017, the company said, “We are very happy with the first half of the year. The European market is very strong for us but the Asian market is likewise performing excellently.”
