Russian mining giant Alrosa is casting the spotlight on a unique collection of illustrious diamonds, aptly called The Dynasty, in Hong Kong.

To be sold at a special online auction this November, The Dynasty Collection consists of five diamonds created from a 179-carat rough diamond recovered from the Nyurbinskaya kimberlite pipe in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in 2015. According to the company, it took a year and a half to create the collection. The diamonds are on display at the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.

The main stone, The Dynasty, weighs 51.38 carats and is a 57-facet traditional round brilliant-cut diamond rated Triple Excellent of D colour in VVS1 clarity. According to Alrosa, The Dynasty is unprecedented in the history of Russia when it comes to overall characteristics. It is the most expensive diamond with the best clarity grade ever cut in Russia.

Sergey Ivanov, president of Alrosa, commented, “This collection is really unique. All five diamonds were manufactured from one rough diamond, which is an exceptional case. It took a year and a half to create the collection. But the result was worth it: We have obtained amazing-quality diamonds. The whole collection was certified by the Gemological Institute of America to confirm its characteristics. Less than 1 percent of diamonds in the world have such characteristics as D colour and VVS1 clarity. And such characteristics of polished diamonds obtained from one rough diamond are exceptional. To be sure, it is a masterpiece of Russian polishers.”
