Chow Tai Fook and the Shanghai Diamond Exchange return as Headline Partners for the 2018 edition of the JNA Awards. Not only firm supporters of the drive to raise industry standards, they are also leading the charge by breaking new ground.

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group and the Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE) have reaffirmed their support for the JNA Awards by continuing as Headline Partners for the 2018 edition.

The KGK Group, Guangdong Gems & Jade Exchange and Guangdong Land Holdings Ltd (GDLAND) are also returning as Honoured Partners of one of the jewellery industry’s most respected awards programmes.

Chow Tai Fook:  Standard-bearer of excellence

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd is living up to its reputation as an industry trailblazer with the launch of its breakthrough innovation, the T MARK diamond brand.

“Customers today are looking for ‘more’ than ever – they crave authenticity and transparency. Retailers must capitalise on this evolving demand to succeed. Being an industry pioneer, Chow Tai Fook has been taking the lead to meet customers’ demands through the application of technology and innovation, as well as by nurturing talents and innovators to bring new insights to transform the jewellery industry,”
remarked Wong.

“Chow Tai Fook T MARK diamond brand is introduced along with the new ‘4Ts’ concept – transparent, traceable, thoughtful and truthful — which is a breakthrough in current industry practice,” he continued.

The application, which won for Chow Tai Fook the coveted “Innovation of the Year” accolade at the 2017 JNA Awards, proves that modern innovations can add value to the timeless virtues of trustworthiness and authenticity that the brand has long been known for.

Each diamond inscribed with a “T MARK” is guaranteed to be natural and conflict-free. Scientifically speaking, this inscription is a serial number unique to one’s jewellery, born from a patented nano-inscription technology developed in 2011 at the Hong Kong Science Park. Considered the world’s tiniest nano-diamond mark, it does not damage the diamond at all and is virtually invisible to the naked eye.

Each “T MARK” diamond pledges a diamond’s journey, with records of procurement, cutting and polishing, marking, authentication, design and manufacturing conveniently showcased to customers. The transparency prevents swapping and counterfeiting.

The “T MARK” innovation also improves the consumer experience. An internally developed and award-winning viewer has been introduced for examining the nano-mark at the store, while a “T MARK” app, which serves as a digital jewellery box, allows consumers to review the diamond’s journey, and create and share special moments centred on their diamond jewellery pieces via social media.

Seamlessly aligned with Chow Tai Fook’s commitment to excellence is its long-time partnership with the JNA Awards. “Together with our other partners in the JNA Awards, we are dedicated to supporting innovators by recognising and promoting their best business practices to drive innovation within the jewellery industry,” Wong said.

SDE leads with compelling vision

The Shanghai Diamond Exchange is fostering a culture of excellence, creativity and innovation in the jewellery industry by supporting one of the sector’s most prestigious platforms, the JNA Awards.

According to Lin, while the jewellery industry is the world’s oldest luxury industry, it currently finds itself in a transition period. “The global luxury goods industry is extremely competitive and every sector is fighting for market share. How can we persuade consumers that jewellery products are more attractive than fancy bags or high-tech gadgets? How do we add value to jewellery? How do we build a responsible market environment that will help restore consumer confidence? These need to be addressed by the jewellery industry to achieve sustainable growth,” he said.

“Never has vision been more important to our industry than now. Thanks to the joint efforts of UBM and all its partners, the JNA Awards has presented a shining and vivid vision to the jewellery industry. It fully captures what the industry needs to do in the face of evolving change and takes steps to address the challenges confronting the sector by recognising excellence, innovation and best practices in the industry,” Lin noted.

Walking the talk, SDE has laid out its own roadmap to be an exemplary industry stakeholder. Regarded as a nationwide trading channel by global diamond dealers entering the China market, SDE has made it its mission to provide world-class infrastructure and a comprehensive one-stop service – from customs and taxation to more specialised facilities – to its global members eyeing China’s growing diamond market.

Authorised by the State Council, SDE is the only legitimate platform for the import and export of diamonds in mainland China, which enjoys the preferential policy on free import tariffs and domestic VAT reduction. It is also the only channel that handles import formalities for all other kinds of bonded diamonds to be sold to the domestic market. SDE operates in compliance with international diamond industry practices – providing a just, fair and safe transaction venue to diamond dealers.

“We truly believe that the values promoted by the JNA Awards will inspire members of our community to achieve higher standards, infuse vitality into our industry and create a brighter future for this sector. SDE is proud to be a part of the team driving this,” Lin said.
